There is something unique about Waffle House that sets it apart from other restaurants. Upon entering the establishment located on Cherry Road this week, I was greeted by a friendly looking man behind the counter. His welcoming smile shown as bright as his nametag with “Keith” written in big letters. By the time I made it to the bar to sit down I found myself smiling too. Yes, there is something different about this place.
The delicious food certainly has something to do with it, but I've noticed how the engaging and accepting attitudes of the employees draw people from all walks of life. The Cherry Road Waffle House is a prime example. On a given night you can find any range between gangsters to grandmothers. Everyone is welcome and everyone is accepted.
Fortunately, this odd mix of people does not seem awkward. It simply adds to the Waffle House experience. And with such a friendly environment, you may find yourself talking to a man who runs a place to play Bingo or a cook working to save money for culinary school. Whatever the story may be, it is sure to be a memorable one.
